Seeking Peace in the Pro-Life Sector: A Future Awaits

We recently hosted our Annual Banquet. It’s a time of year when we take a step back to consider our perspective—to take another look at what is driving us forward. It is always a good reminder to recognize that there is great purpose and calling to what we do. It isn’t for recognition or money, but we take what we do as a Biblical mandate, to help the vulnerable.

Caring Network is a non-profit pro-life organization spanning 40 years and six pregnancy resource centers. We work to seek peace for the unborn, their mothers, and their family members and give them a future. If you’re passionate about seeking peace for the vulnerable, we’d love to hear from you.

What is Seeking Peace?

Psalm 37:37 reads: “Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.”

What a beautiful promise to read in God’s Word. As followers of Jesus, we know that as we walk the path of righteousness in this life we will face hardship. But we are promised an eternal future with our Father. Reading this promise should prompt us to consider how we are following this mandate. Isaiah 58 paints a clearer picture of what seeking peace looks like:

“’…to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke[.] Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? … If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed…’”

Seeking Peace in the Pro-Life Sector

So how do we, as Christians seek peace? When we take a look at biblical examples, we see how we are to interact with each other and with those who come to us. What greater way to seek peace than to stand up for life itself? And, as we stand for life, we can care for the continued wellbeing of the whole person. As Isaiah 58 points out. we are to feed the hungry, give shelter to the wanderer, clothe the naked, and ultimately do away with the yoke of oppression. While the practice of abortion is certainly a yoke of oppression, so is whatever it may be that drives a woman to seek out abortion. As followers of Jesus, we are to dismantle these yokes.
