A Pro-Life Perspective for the New Year

Sometimes news that burdens our hearts comes our way. Last month, the Illinois Senate voted to repeal the Parental Notice of Abortion Act. While this repeal won’t go into effect until June of 2022, this news reminds us that we must always be vigilant and prayerful.  Moving forward into a new year should be something to look forward to—to be excited for all of the possibilities. But, lately, with all that is happening in the world, it’s easy to let fear and worry creep in. With the changing climate around abortion laws and the pro-life movement, looking forward to the New Year as a pro-life organization takes some extra work, too. But, it is the call of Jesus to look to the new year from a pro-life perspective.

Caring Network Illinois is a pro-life organization with pregnancy resource centers across the Chicagoland area. We are passionate about meeting women where they are and offering a pro-life perspective while making sure they feel heard and valued. We hope you will join us this new year in working towards our vision to open 25 new pregnancy centers across Illinois.

Preparing Our Hearts Through Prayer

As Christians, we are to be a people of prayer at all times of life. Setting apart time to pray with intentionality as we step into a new year is always a good idea. Remembering that there are people in positions of leadership that need prayer is a biblical principle. Especially as we draw near to big decisions, our leaders need prayer. Some specific pro-life prayer requests you might take time to go to the Lord with are:

  • Pray for our Supreme Court as they make decisions that could impact Roe v. Wade.
  • Pray for Illinois teens and their families with the repeal of the Parental Notification Act.
  • Pray for abortion clinics to close.
  • Pray for pro-life workers.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit may give you the courage to have hard conversations and serve others with great love.

Committing to Generosity

A new year is a great time to get involved with your time and resources. Consider choosing a cause to be generous toward this year. Finding ways that your time and your money can be used in a pro-life way is a worthy endeavor for the year ahead. Some ways this could be possible are:

A Hopeful Future

While we may be encountering struggles and difficulties, we can look forward to this new year with great hope. As followers of Jesus, we know that the pain we feel now will not last. While we lament during this lifetime, we hold on to the hope that Jesus will make all things new. No more will there be a perceived need for abortion, but the pangs of death will be washed away.

There are so many ways to commit yourself to live in an exemplary pro-life way. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, partnering with us here at Caring Network is a great way to get started! We are always looking for more prayer warriors, church partners, and volunteers. To sign up for our monthly prayer list, email us here. We are also hiring part-time and full-time positions to meet the need of women and their families across Illinois.
