How to Have a Pro-Life Christmas

Thanksgiving is long past and the season of giving is upon us. As a widely celebrated holiday, Christmas has different meanings for different groups of people. For followers of Jesus, we derive great meaning and joy from celebrating Christmas. Yet still, even with the depth of meaning, it can be easy to get lost in the materialism that pervades our culture. As we come back to the real meaning of Christmas, is it possible for pro-life practices to influence how we celebrate? The pro-life movement has had its victories and defeats over the years. But at this historical time of giving thanks, it’s a good time to recount the progress that we have had, particularly over the past decade.

As we prepare our offices, hearts, and homes for the joy of Christmas, we take time to reflect on what it means to be pro-life. At Caring Network, we make sure our first-step pregnancy centers are warm and welcoming. We don’t stop walking with women after they choose life, but we keep going with them!

What Does it Mean to Be Pro-Life?

While a popular adage about the pro-life world is that we only care about one thing, the opposite is quite true! Being pro-life means supporting humans from womb to tomb. We believe that humans, no matter how small, have intrinsic worth and beauty—people are made in the image of God! We are to help, bless, serve, and love people at whatever stage of life they’re at. At Caring Network our particular focus is on helping the unborn, but we must also help the mother of each baby through birth and beyond.

How Do We Have a Pro-Life Christmas?

Having an intentionally pro-life Christmas can take a bit of research and creative thinking. But, to put Christ central in our lives and our holiday seasons, it’s important to evaluate how we celebrate. As December progresses, here are some holistic pro-life Christmas ideas!

Giving.

Whether it’s your time or your money, giving to a Christian organization that helps others is a great way to get in the spirit of Christmas. At Caring Network there are so many ways for you, your church, and your family to get involved in serving the unborn and their families. Through the end of the year, we have a special year-end matching grant opportunity. Learn more here.

Rethinking how we buy.

Unfortunately, not all businesses operate in a pro-life way. This is why Fair Trade goods are an excellent path to take for Christmas gifts. Take time to learn more about what you are purchasing, where it comes from, and how it may impact others.

Hospitality to others.

Letting those around us know that we are here for them and care for them is a great pro-life discipline. People tend to feel lonely and grieve around the holidays, and sometimes a meaningful invitation, word, or gift are ways we can be the fragrance of Christ.

As you prepare your heart for the Season of Advent, we look forward to connecting you with our ministry. There are so many ways to stand up for life while remembering that Jesus came as a baby to lay down His life for us. Get involved today at Caring Network through donatingvolunteering, or one of our open positions.
