SOFIA

Sofia was extremely nervous when she first came to Caring Network.  A few days earlier, she had taken a positive at-home pregnancy test.  She had also recently lost her job, and saw no other answer but abortion.  As she and her pregnancy consultant talked, Sofia expressed, “Nunca pensé que yo querría abortar.” 

I never thought I would want to abort.  Sofia was overwhelmed by lack of resources for her child.  Yet as she consulted with her PC, they discussed applying for health insurance, finding a doctor, and connecting with numerous community resources.  Her consultant also encouraged Sofia to get involved with a local church.  Sofia was very interested in that.  After they discussed all the ways in which Caring Network could help, Sofia chose life for her child.  She was relieved, repeating that she never wanted an abortion.  Caring Network gave her real options, and because of that, Sofia is now prepared to face the future with hope!
