Five Community Service Opportunities in DuPage County
Did you know that you can make a positive difference in the lives of others, even if your work commitments and daily routine keep you busy? Even with a busy schedule, it is still possible for you and your church to contribute to the changing or saving of a life by volunteering and sharing your talents.
You can serve through any of the programs available through Caring Network Illinois, a non-profit Christian organization impacting the lives of women facing unplanned pregnancy. In the content below, we explore five community service opportunities in DuPage County related to church volunteering.
5 Church Volunteer Opportunities
#1. TAKE PART IN COINS FOR CARING NETWORK
Coins for Caring Network is an Illinois fundraising program in which small businesses, church groups, and individuals can participate. Bottles are provided to raise funds at any time with any given duration.
For larger groups and gatherings, a duration of one to two months is recommended, such as from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day. Therefore, begin the fundraising by setting up a display in your church or office and distributing the Coins for Caring Network bottles. This is something that you can encourage your small group or family to be involved in.
Completed bottles can be picked up or dropped off at any Caring Network office in DuPage County. Small change can make a big difference!
#2. BECOME A CARING NETWORK ADVOCATE
So many people in the greater DuPage County area need the love, compassion, and practical assistance that Caring Network offers. Caring Network specifically serves women experiencing unplanned pregnancies and women or men with an abortion in their past.
So many are steeped in a culture that ignores the value of life and are hurting, feeling alone and uncared for as a result. However, your church can participate to form a partnership with Caring Network and become an advocate for those in need. Advocates learn about our services and are equipped to connect people in need to Caring Network through church ministries or in the community.
#3. SPONSOR A LOCAL CENTER IN DUPAGE COUNTY
Since over ninety percent of women who visit Caring Network come from within ten miles of a Caring Network help center, our vision is to provide greater access to our services throughout the DuPage area by adding “express” centers. You can tour your local Caring Network center and learn about that location’s needs for materials or volunteers.
Alternatively, you can connect with our development team to learn about where God is leading Caring Network and how you can help us provide critical services in a new area.
#4. JOIN THE CONNECTIONS MENTORING PROGRAM
Even with a small group of women from a church, connections bring groups together with a pregnant woman in need financially, mentally, physically, and spiritually. The program’s purpose is to form a network of support around a woman and her baby to enhance her quality of life and encourage her spiritual life.
We want every mother and her baby to feel loved and cared for. Our hope is that as she is embraced by your group, where the mom-to-be will form a lasting relationship with your church family. A Connections group also provides a baby shower for the new mother, where you can provide for her immediate physical and emotional needs.
#5. HELP COLLECT NEEDED BABY SUPPLIES
For those who are unable to donate their time for church volunteer opportunities, you can still make an impact by providing diapers or donating other baby supplies. Caring Network Baby Banks are an encouragement to mothers by providing needed material support.
The Diaper Derby is an annual diaper collection across multiple churches in which the Caring Network Cube provides an on-site container that facilitates ongoing collection of diapers, formula, and other material goods. Diaper donations can always be dropped off at any Caring Network office.
