Alexi’s Story: Finding Hope and Support in Unexpected Places

When Alexi (not her real name) first thought she could be pregnant, her plan was to continue her unexpected pregnancy and parent. But then the relationship with her boyfriend fell apart and she broke up with him. That changed everything, and Alexi started exploring abortion facility options.
Alexi came to Caring Network confident in her decision to pursue an abortion.
During Alexi’s time with her nurse, Carla, Alexi shared that she didn’t believe in abortion, but that she felt it was what she needed to do.
God’s Perfect Timing
Through the kindness and ongoing support of friends like you, we know that God had perfectly positioned Carla at the women’s clinic to reach out to Alexi with love and care—and truth—on that day.
Carla was able to have a conversation with her about the doubts she had expressed, including her concerns and fears. Carla asked Alexi about her current living situation and the people in her life. Alexi realized she did have some good friends that cared about her as well as her parents who all cared about her greatly, but she was embarrassed to be in her current situation. She had not discussed this with anyone until she was talking with Carla.
Carla confirmed the pregnancy with a medical grade pregnancy test and started to set up the ultrasound. When Alexi saw her baby on the screen and heard the tiny heartbeat her heart and mind were overwhelmed.
The Power of Prayer
After a few moments of silence, Alexi shared she was torn and needed time. Carla offered to pray for Alexi and offered her help with a network of support. Carla also encouraged Alexi to talk with her family. Carla asked Alexi if she could follow up with her over the next week and Alexi agreed. The Caring Network prayer team prayed for her every day.
Three days later, Alexia called Carla to let her know that she did not have an abortion! She said that she just was not OK with the thought of taking a life. She plans to take care of the baby herself. She is now receiving prenatal care and feeling excited about her pregnancy.
Alexi quickly learned that she had a network of support for her and her decision. She found a church to attend that wrapped around her and her family was excited to help as well.
