A Child’s Life — and a Mom’s Future — Saved!
Bonnie (not her real name) came to Caring Network with her grandmother, concerned about being pregnant as a 16-year-old. Bonnie told her pregnancy consultant she was a little confused and emotional, as her pregnancy was unexpected. She also shared her concerns and thoughts about her pregnancy and that the situation was very scary for her.
Providing Care to Women in Crisis
Feeling she was too young to be pregnant, Bonnie didn’t want to bring a baby into the world and not be able to properly care for it. She stated she was undecided about her pregnancy decision and felt so alone since losing her mother earlier in the summer.
Bonnie did some searching online and that’s when she came across Caring Network . . . where over 65% of women who come to our clinics first choose life. The prayers and the support of friends like you who generously give helped us be there for Bonnie and equip her make the right choice for her child.
The result from Bonnie’s free medical-grade pregnancy test was positive. The nurse performed an ultrasound that was conclusive, and Bonnie said she was excited after seeing her baby on the ultrasound. As the pregnancy consultant walked her through options, Bonnie said she felt no pressure at all. She left her appointment still undecided about her pregnancy decision.
Bonnie stayed in touch with her pregnancy consultant, and a few days later, she sent a text message to share that she had decided to keep her baby. However, she needed help, especially with finding an obstetrician, as she didn’t have insurance.
The pregnancy consultant was able to schedule another appointment with Bonnie to review parenting resources and next steps. Bonnie returned to Caring Network the next day with her grandmother and boyfriend.
We were able to provide her with a network of parenting resources including access to clothing, diapers, baby supplies, and other resources including prenatal vitamins.
Helping Moms Choose Life
Today, Bonnie’s baby is 10 months old. “This girl is more than I ever prayed for or wished for,” Bonnie says. “I cannot picture life without her. Honestly, having my daughter here, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I feel like I made the best choice, the best decision.”
Bonnie says she owes that to Caring Network for walking alongside her, providing all the resources she needed, and helping her understand what abortion really is. “I will forever be grateful,” Bonnie says. “Thank you so much!”
Tens of thousands of abortions take place every year in Illinois, and when you give to Caring Network you help more of these women choose life. Moms like Bonnie are looking forward to Mother’s Day this year, and we know that it is thanks to you and so many other generous friends in our community.
Please pray for courageous women like Bonnie. We are grateful that friends like you share in our mission to help women facing an unexpected pregnancy choose life.
“. . . Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
