5 Ways to Volunteer at Caring Network

Along with many aspects of our society, volunteering has been impacted dramatically by COVID-19. Many volunteer opportunities involve working hands-on with others. As a result, options may have become limited for ways to give back during these past several months.

At Caring Network, although certain volunteer opportunities have been put on hold, there are other ways to serve the ministry. Here are 5 options for volunteering at Caring Network.

Caring Network is a Chicagoland non-profit serving women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. With six local pregnancy resource centers and a post-abortion support program, we come alongside women and their partners with free services and compassionate support. We rely on the partnership of individuals and churches in the community for this important work. Through prayer, volunteering, and financial support, we are able to reach more women and save more lives. Learn more today!

Volunteer Opportunities at Caring Network

#1 – SPECIAL EVENTS

Contribute your time, talents, and gifts to our Special Events Team. Each year, we host a few fundraising events. Despite the current challenges with event planning, we have still been able to continue hosting these fundraisers. Our upcoming Annual Banquet will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at multiple church locations spread throughout DuPage County. Volunteers are needed for event preparation, as well as staffing at each location. If you are interested in volunteering for Special Events like our Annual Banquet, please email specialevents@caringnetwork.com.

#2 – PRAYER

Join in the mission and vision of Caring Network by praying for the women and men we serve. There are two opportunities for prayer.

  • If you are a prayer warrior that feels a special burden or calling to spend time in intercession for others, check out our Prayer Team. The Prayer Team will partner you with a specific client to lift up in prayer throughout the week, who is often in the midst of her pregnancy decision or facing very tough obstacles.
  • The other prayer opportunity is through our monthly prayer list. At the beginning of each month, we send out prayer requests for pregnancy center clients as well as post-abortion ministry.

For further information about either of these options, please email volunteer@caringnetwork.com .

#3 – BABY ITEM COLLECTION

Meet the practical needs of the women we serve by hosting a Diaper Drive or material goods collection. Caring Network supports four partner “baby banks” that provide diapers, wipes, formula, and other items on a regular basis for moms in need.  By hosting a Diaper Drive, you can collect items that will directly benefit our clients. Items needed are diapers, wipes, formula, new baby clothing, baby toiletries, and gift cards. To find out more about hosting a Diaper Drive, contact Tracy at tracy@caringnetwork.com.

#4 – SPECIAL PROJECTS

Assist the work of the ministry by completing special projects at home. From time to time, our organization takes on projects that could use some extra hands on deck. This could be assembling a mailing, cutting/preparation for marketing materials, etc. Often these projects are easily completed with a small group.  If you’d like to contribute by assembly or special projects, contact Cara at cara@caringnetwork.com .

#5 – CONNECTIONS or JOURNEY

Provide discipleship and emotional support for a woman going through an unplanned pregnancy. Caring Network’s Connections program comes alongside a woman who needs additional relational care during her pregnancy. Perhaps her family is not supportive, the father may not be around, maybe she is new to the area, or she’s looking for role models to help her through this tough season. Connections “connects” a mom-to-be with a small group or church members to develop a relationship with her through the pregnancy, throwing her a baby shower at the end.

Journey helps women address the spiritual questions they may have surrounding their faith journey. This is one-on-one discipleship opportunity for faith development. To learn more about either Connections or Journey, email opportunity@caringnetwork.com.

These are just a few of the many ways you can support the work of Caring Network while utilizing your own skills and resources. If you’d like to join in the important work of reaching more women and saving more lives, contact us. From prayer to hands-on experiences, each role provides an opportunity to change hearts.  Join our mission today!
